Little notes

Dear Santa Barbara:You're beautiful.

Dear Veterans and current armed-services members:
Thank you for the sacrifices you made (and continue to make every day) to make our country free.

Dear every single Starbucks store ever built:
Who the heck thought up the arrangement in your baƱo? And then who voted to standardize it for all Starbucks' everywhere? I can only speak for myself, but I'm beyond weirded out that you put the mirror directly across from the toilet. No one needs to see themselves pee.

Dear "everything-proof" cameras:
Oh man you have opened a can of worms. Husband is obsessed with testing your claim. I'm starting to worry that women see your commercials and go "oh, that's cool", and men see them and go "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED". $100 bucks says I'll find it in the freezer next.

Dear Bargain Tuesdays:
Thanks for a cheap date night at the movies the other day! Nothing says Summer like a cheap movie during the week. Also? (aside: If you haven't seen Avengers yet, RUN don't walk to fix that).

Dear Memorial Day Sales:
Bless you. Husband's mind was blown when I showed him my receipt at the fabric store. "How did you SAVE seventy bucks when you only SPENT forty?!?". Be patient, my young padawan. You have much to learn.

Dear friends (that means you!):
Could ya help me out a teensy bit? I'm trying to win a gift for husband (don't worry, he hardly reads this thing, knock on wood). If you've got a free second, go to this webpage and "vote" (by Pinning) for #15? You'd need a Pinterest account; if you don't have one and want to vote, leave a comment telling me so and I'll send you an invite (the email shows up on my end only, don't worry)! If you want, you should totally enter the contest, I won't be offended at all, just vote for us both :)

Have a great Friday!

Little Notes

I rescheduled my little notes post to today, because it's my blog and I can do whatever I want. HA!

Dear Mister:
Thank you for not judging me as I cried like a baby during the Desperate Housewives series finale. Also, working to put the new couch together so I could watch said finale in our new TV room? You're perfect.

Dear readers:
You guys are great! The comments and little email messages you leave me just make my heart smile. Thanks so much :)

Dear San Diego
Let's be friends. This weekend was fun. (recap is coming, promise!).

Dear Ikea:
I'm in love with you. I'm more than a little bitter that you are so far away from me. After our little shopping spree this past weekend, husband and I are experts at decoding your instruction booklets. Although that couch was a doozy. (also, although we love our new couch, packing it in four gigantic boxes was a little annoying. It made the drive home from San Diego a huge crazy pain).

Dear Bachelorette Emily:
I was surprised about your premiere "meet and greet" episode...You're not as boring as I thought you would be. I'm still not convinced you were the best pick, but oh well. Husband and I have already picked out our favorite contenders.

Dear little under-desk coffee maker:
Since husband leaves for work so darn early (that's what you get for selling to the East Coast!), we can't tag-team the morning routines anymore. Oh man that first week was ROUGH. But you, little under-desk coffee maker, let me skip a step in the routine and brew coffee at work. Whoo hoo! Thanks for that. Without you I'd probably be late to work every single day.

Dear self:
Life is precious. Look for the beauty in today. It's there, I promise.

Dear Sparkly nails:
You make me feel fancy. Thanks for sticking around for longer than 15 seconds.

Little Notes

Dear Husband:
I can't believe how much you are rocking this new job! Already, veterans at the company are asking you questions, because you've mastered your product so fast (it was only a matter of time). My heart bursts with pride :)

Dear most-stressful-week-of-my-life (also known as last week):
I am so glad you only come around once a year. I'd have a serious coronary if I had to deal with you more often. New discovery: I get stress headaches. Who knew? I wrote a post in the midst of it and it was just so depressing I'll spare you.

Dear college students everywhere:
Give grace to your professors. I promise you we're running on less steam than you are. "Thank yous" and "Good Jobs" are like medicine.

Dear Summer Movies:
Although I'm bitter that you are so expensive in theaters, I really am excited for all the great movies that are coming out (soon and recently). One I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I'm excited about? What to Expect When You're Expecting (PURELY for entertainment reasons, gaaaaash). Love that they're turning more self-help books into movies; they're always so funny.

Dear H&M:
Thank you for making it ever-so-apparent that I haven't gone actual clothes shopping in way too long. Also thanks for the not-so-new store downtown (that's really been there for ages and I just haven't gotten around to purchasing anything. I think I may go and blow the gift card I embarrassingly have been carrying for more than two years (eek).

Dear Emily:
I haven't decided how I feel about you being the next Bachelorette. I think it's a little creepy that you broke it off with Brad because the publicity was too much for you, but now are somehow okay with being in the spotlight now. Not sure how that one works. Looks like I have to watch the show and form an unbiased opinion (Crap, that was their plan all along, wasn't it? ARgh I fall for it again).

Dear Europe:
Take care of my parents!

Dear "Secret" birthday destination:
Yay, vacation! I have no idea what you and my husband are planning, but I'm really excited! Okay, so husband may have let it slip where we were going, but the details are still a surprise. This visit could not have come at a better time. I'm looking forward to relaxing, skyping with my parents, and a three-day-weekend (to make up for last week's one-day-weekend). Yahoo!

Dear Convertible-Weather:
Bliss.
Forgive the dorky glasses. They're all I could find, and I wasn't about to let a lack of shades keep me from dropping top! Best day to ride with the top down? Fridays. It's freeing.

Little Notes

Dear Husband:
You rock. Thank you for getting up and making me breakfast ON YOUR FIRST DAY OFF. You're way better at this than I am.

Dear spiders who seem to be invading my home:
Where did you come from? And why won't you leave? I understand that the weather has been a little unpredictable lately, and if I were you I'd TOTALLY want to take shelter in my house too, but this is getting a little teensy bit old. Also, our bedroom is OFF LIMITS.

Dear Students:
Press on, you're so close to the end of the semester! Don't sweat the little stuff; a grade's a grade and learning is a lot bigger than a GPA. Enjoy every little moment. Soak it in. Finish Strong. You'll be glad you did.

Dear Martha:
I never cease to be amazed by you. Your website, along with Pinterest, has catapulted me into decorating mode. Now, could you sprinkle some of your fairy dust on me so my projects come out as pretty as yours? I'm almost 100% positive that you don't finish your projects covered in paint and glue, either.

Dear "Hoarders":
The fact that you're on at dinnertime disgusts me. You ruined our fabulous dinner.

Dear ReStore:
You really do have some gems within your warehouse. It is definitely a treasure hunt in there, but I'm glad that we discovered you!

Dear last week of classes:
Bring it.

My office, this time last year. We're paperless now, but I've got twice the students. LETS GO.

Little notes

Dear husband:
Congratulations on landing your new job!! I am so proud of you, and the sales team won't know what hit it. Just one week more of the call center and you're FREE!

Dear Mad Men;
Why are you only in my life once a week?! I miss the times we used to share; you and me and Netflix. It would be great if you could fix this.

Dear little 'ol apartment:
I am sorry for saying all those mean things behind your back. You really are pretty great, and we're blessed to have found you. I have decided to stop being so awful to you, and start appreciating you more. Let's be friends, mmkay?

Dear Southern California:
You have been so lovely lately, and the husband and I are really grateful. Although the sunburn was a bit much.

Dear Zoo;
Thank you for being within walking distance from our house. We had a lot of fun on Saturday. And the  "giraffe feeding program"? Pretty awesome. We'll be back soon.

Dear Trader Joes:
We need to talk. You can't keep making new and yummy products, because I'm powerless to resist you. It does, however, make for great picnics. Although could you please stop offering samples of your cheese? It's becoming a problem.

Dear papers sitting in my inbox:
I love you. I love you. I love you (maybe if I'll say it enough, I'll start to believe it).

Dear Sunday afternoon:
I have decided that you should be twice as long as a regular afternoon. We have such fun together.

Dear refrigerator:
please don't die. I hear your poor old self struggling for breath all day long, but I'm really not sure what I would do if I came home and you were dead. Ugh.

Dear Ferrari:
Way to make me look bad.
