the prettiest wedding shower ever

My bestie Amy is getting married in December, and this weekend was her first shower!

I love this girl so much! She was my Maid of Honor, and I have the extreme honor of being one of her Maids of Honor at her wedding. It's such a blessing to be there for her like she was there for me.

Pretty {edited} Invitations
And her shower. OH MY GOODNESS. I can say it was the prettiest shower ever because my goodness it WAS (All of the details (except for the invitations) were handmade. The whole shower was a labor of love by Amy's friends and family, and Amy had a huge hand in it as well! I just showed up and helped set up :-\

The pretty little bride is incredible at hand-lettering, and she put her gift to use for the shower HARD. Mason jars with hand-lettered name tags served as place cards, food was identified with hand-lettered cards, even chalkboards had Amy's hand!

And then the food. Oh was there FOOD.
Family beginning to bring food! // Amy lighting candles and checking the seating chart
The spread was seriously fantastic, made even the more impressive because it was all homemade! Most of it was baked the day before by Amy and her mama Geneva, and some was brought by friends of the family.

EVERYTHING WAS SO DELICIOUS! It's hard to pick a favorite, but the Endive chicken salad was pretty fantastic. The hummus tart was to die for too, and I absolutely loved the cucumber sandwiches! I have never met a cuke sandwich I haven't liked, and these ones were on Geneva's homemade cottage-dill bread. Out of this world!

All of the desserts were homemade, too. Clouds and Rice Krispie treats were Amy's doing, and sister Katie made all of the cupcakes.
 Katie's invention, the Pumpkin Spice Latte cupcake, was the best (okay, the best that I tried). Not pumpkin spice, which I've had before, but pumpkin spice LATTE. It was exactly that. Glorious.
My favorite dessert by far, the PSL cupcakes {Photo by William}

Amy's younger brother William was the photographer for the day, and he did such a good job! He bought a two-camera shoulder holster for the occasion (and for the wedding too, I'm told) I've featured a few of his photos here :)

Amy's groom Jared dropped his mother off and went away for some guy bonding, and with that, the shower began!
 After prayer and a general blessing on both food and bride, much feasting and greeting commenced!

We played a few games there too, before gift-opening and afterwards. The first, the ubiquitous "how well do you know the bride and groom?" game. I tied for second place; future mother-in-law Rebecca had us all beat!
I SO thought I would have the upper hand, since I'd known the couple long before they were a couple, but I lost by half a point! {Photo by William}

When the game was finished, it was time for gifts! Katie wrote down the gifts for Amy's thank-you notes and I packed them back up in big shopping bags for an easier move to their apartment a few hours away.

We also wrote some "Advice" cards for Amy, most of which were read aloud to the group when a person's gift was opened. Some of the cards, though, were passed to the bride without being read aloud :)

The shower was absolutely beautiful, and went off without a hitch. The guests (and co-hosts!) were floored by Amy's craftiness and organization. As always! It was so good to see Amy and I'm SO  looking forward to her wedding in December. One thing at a time though: Devon & Adri's wedding this weekend!

homebody

One benefit to my current state of non-employment is the ability to tag along on some of my husband's business trips (like this one, although I was actually working at the time whoops). My current fave trip though: business trips where we can stay with my parents!

Daisy loves visiting my parents; she's not really allowed to run free on Santa Barbara trails!
I've recently calculated that I have been home to visit like clockwork every two weeks for the past couple months for either various wedding-related events or business trips. While I would love a weekend with nothing on the schedule, it's been fun to visit my hometown so often and catch up with family and friends.
Helping my mama make dinner in their NEW KITCHEN!
Love my daddy!
After Dilip and Stephanie's wedding, we stayed in the Bay Area for a few days for work a work event. (We have been doing a lot of those lately!).
Getting ready for the gala // Driving my dad's car makes Tim giddy
The San Rafael bridge into... well, San Rafael.
This event was yet another anniversary gala for yet another affordable housing provider (Tim had been working closely with these clients, hence the plethora of black-tie events). It was hosted at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, across the bay from San Francisco. Hello gorgeous!

Best part of the night? Maybe.
The food ws delicious (mashed potato martini GET IN MY BELLY!), the venue was to die for, and the speakers were very touching.
The gorgeous San Francisco Skyline, as seen from Tiburon (that's the Bay Bridge, not the GG, in case you were curious)
Leaving my parents' home is always hard, even so long after moving out. LOVE THEM! We always leave there with lots more than we arrived; this time we brought back the last two chairs to the patio set I thrifted there last time.

One fact that makes leaving easier: We would see them in another two weeks (haha I told you! Like clockwork). Devon & Adri are getting married!!!!!!!
