Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! First of all, I wanted to thank you guys so much for the support I got from you all about my guest post on Merrick’s Art this week. You are all so wonderful. Those of you joining us from Merrick's blog, Welcome!
Speaking of the guest post, if you saw this Tuesday, you might be familiar with my discovery of snaps (If not, go check it out!). Tim’s slightly concerned; I’m looking everywhere (in our house, in our closet, in the stores…) for things I can “improve” with the addition of a shiny new snap. His concern is justified.

I’ve been wearing my hair curled every.single.day this week, and haven’t once used a curling iron! (sorcery, I tell you!)
The Headband curl has been my go-to hairdo method lately, and since it’s so quick (and I can do it at night, which means I get to sleep in, yay!!), it’s always been my favorite. Thanks, Pinterest and youtube :)
Also to be noted about this picture: That red is my current fave lipstick. (Bare Escentuals Pretty Amazing in Strength. LOVE.)
I bit the bullet and bought a bubble necklace from Caroline G. this week (okay, I'll admit it; I bought it because there was a half-off deal on facebook. Still excited though!).

We’re housesitting for a family in our church this weekend, and we’re STOKED. It’s in our wildest-dream neighborhood (we can maybe afford it if we win the lottery), there’s BOTH a mountain view and an ocean view, and the best part: both views are accessible via their Hot Tub. AND they said we can have people over. YEE!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! Long time no talk. It's been quite the week (the physically and emotionally exhausting kind). But to help me forget about all that, I'm going to focus on some of my favorite things this week!

Cheap iphone 4 case

Favorite purchase: My shiny new iphone case, courtesy of Amazon. Best dollar I ever spent. (Seriously, a dollar {okay, a dollar and seven cents. Still}). May have taken three weeks to get here, but it's sparkly and will hopefully keep this iphone from shattering. I'm not normally a case girl, but I couldn't say no to a buck. And it's sparkly.
Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

Favorite Fall Flavor:  I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in feeling this, but Pumpkin Spice is one of the best parts of the Fall season. We don't really get much of a Fall here on the Central Coast of California, so it's kind of the closest "marker" we get. Starbucks drives the seasons here: pumpkin spice latte season, red cup season. (You know it's true, SoCal-ers)
I can't wait to start baking a bunch of pumpkin-inspired concoctions; missed out on that one last year. I'll also be trying out a pumpkin spice creamer recipe; can't wait to share that one :)

Favorite weekend plans: Sticking to the pumpkin theme here, we're headed up to Avila Valley Barn this weekend! It's a yearly tradition and is just plain fun, which is definitely something we'll be needing after the completely awful weeks and weekends we've been having lately. We'll do a hayride, pick out a pumpkin or two, have a glass of cider, maybe visit the haymaze if we're feeling particularly adventurous {did it last year, still sort of get nightmares about it}.

it's time for...

One of my favorite posts of the week, since it lets me celebrate the things that I absolutely love (also because it lets me play with MS paint, and that always reminds me of my childhood).
Like I mentioned earlier today, Tim has been such a lifesaver this week. Thanks to him (and his patience; again, bless him), I've been able to marginally hold on to the shreds of sanity I possess throughout the week. He's definitely earning the awesome surprise outing I have planned for tomorrow afternoon....
...which are totally not going to be a surprise to you (since Tim doesn't really read this that often, and I'll be telling him our destination right after work, it's no biggie).

We're going whalewatching (again)! We are finally going to make use of the vouchers we got on our last trip, since we didn't see any whales that time. This will be event 1 of a three-part anniversary present, the other parts of which he will receive on our actual anniversary. I'm stoked.

Also, my parents may be visiting us this weekend, too! Since I don't get Monday off, they may not come down, but that's within the realm of possibilities. Which is fantastic.
Once upon a time, we wandered into an antique store and my dear husband Tim fell in love with a sad, neglected typewriter sitting on a bottom shelf. It was old, it was broken, and half of its keys didn't actually type anything. {I talked him out of buying it}. But still, he dreamed of how awesome it would be to send a type-written thank-you card to his business contacts. Months and months go by, and he's still thinking about that silly typewriter, and looking for anything similar at other stores we pop into. Finally, after dreaming about it for a good year, we found one. It sits on top of a wine-crate bookshelf next to some milk glass bottles, and is just so vintagey and kitschy and perfect.
And we really do use it all the time! Tim's sent out thank-yous to his big clients, we've used it for three wedding gifts, and it's made appearances in little surprises for each other, too (above).
Side note: who knew how expensive typewriters were?! We googled the one we had after we bought it, since it looked really cool and we were just so curious. One just like it (same year and everything) was listed online for nine hundred dollars. Say whaaaaa?

Happy Friday, loves! I'll admit; even though this was my first week back, and I had monday off, this has been the l o n g e s t week ever. I legitimately thought it was friday until halfway through the day yesterday; yeesh.
But now, the wait is over, it's time for Friday Favorites!

LOST. We're curently slamming through the series at a rate of *coughthreeepisodespernightcough* (don't judge us). I never had the patience to finish the series when it was airing, so the fact that we can watch one episode after another rather than wait a WEEK to find out what happens next makes it a lot more manageable.

I mean, really. If their food is so delicious and good for you (some of it not so much, but you know what I mean), then their beauty products HAVE to be good. And it's true. I'm in love with their shampoo/conditioners (Tea Tree Oil for the WIN). So fresh, so clean. And their stuff isn't overly feminine-smelling, so Tim doesn't cut my head off if I buy it for the community shampoo. I also love their SPF moisturizer and the facial cleansing pads (seriously, anything with Tea Tree Oil in it I will try). They're all worth a try!
THIS ONE!
Not like I have a lot of Korea-bound cousins, but still, she's my favorite. My cousin is AS WE SPEAK headed on a plane to Suji, a district a little bit south of Seoul, South Korea, to teach English. For a year.
(She's a rockstar).

Love ya, Syd! Have a safe trip!

What are you loving today?

friday favorites!

It's been a while since I've done a link-up, so here goes. Here are my Friday Favorites!

Oh man this color is yummy. It's Essie's "Apertif", and it's the perfect red. I've heard people sing the praises of Essie for a while now, but I didn't want to spend the money..... Most of my nail polish colors cost me a buck or two. BUT THEN the drugstore sale fairy sprinkled her fairy dust on this bottle and I got it for half off... WHOO!
I did ladybug toes to make it a little more appropriate for summer. Clearly I need a little more practice. Yikes.

I don't normally post e-cards, but I thought this was great. If this doesn't make sense to you, please check out this video. I cannot resist singing at the top of my lungs when this song comes on the radio.
Mom, it's country music; for your sanity, don't click through. ;)

Our little bird has taken it upon himself to become our home security system (Don't ask). He'll find the highest (and oftentimes the most awkward) spots in our apartment and squeak whenever someone walks by. Incessantly. Like a guard dog.
Just this morning, I found him behind the blinds hanging on for dear life to the window crossbar, squeaking away because the gardener had begun watering.

I have NO idea where it came from (it's probably been sitting in my makeup cabinet since I was a teenager), but I've recently rediscovered it and it's AMAZING. It's of course been discontinued, but it's an AVON (seriously, no idea how I got it) called "Country Rose" and is a perfect cross between hot pink and red. And I love it.
Luscious and yummy.
Oh, and speaking of luscious and yummy:
Ever had one? Me either. Let's go, yeah? Starbucks is giving away free tall "Refreshers" between noon and 3pm today. Go if you can. They look delicious.

Friday Favorites

Hey Guys!
I know I posted already today, but for CRYING out loud it was supposed to post yesterday but I couldn't get my act together.
And I couldn't help myself, because the ever-entertaining Lindsey made her "Friday Faves" post a link-up, and I can never resist those :). So, without further adieu, my Friday Favorites!
Momma made this amazing salad once upon a time when we came to visit, and it was seriously LIFE-CHANGING. So I made it on Wednesday, and Husband's been asking for it again every night since. It's got strawberries, feta cheese, lettuce, (was supposed to have toasted almonds, but I forgot them), and the most amazing dressing I have ever experienced. Maybe I'll post the recipe so I don't have to Google it anymore. We'll see.
My new sunglasses. Six bucks at H&M, whoo! They kind of look like someone grabbed them from the bottom of the lens and stretched them, but I think I'm okay with that. That's usually where I get burned anyway, so what's a little extra protection? Also, there's that weird heart charm thing on  the lens,  but since it's permanently SCREWED INTO the lens, I've decided I don't care.

In just a couple weeks, husband and I (along with a BUNCHA friends) head off to Yosemite for a destination wedding. So excited!

THEN, a month later, we're off to Las Vegas (just us two). We got a really good price on plane tickets (side note: did you know that if buy your ticket by phone, you're paying about 20 bucks cheaper than if you buy your ticket on the internet? Since we used vouchers we HAD to book by phone, and were pleasantly surprised). The whole planning process is thrilling to me; there's so much to do!

(aside: I find it funny that "decor" was autocorrected to Décor; so much so that I left it. Ha). Anyway, if you read my blog aaaaaaaaall the way at the beginning, you might remember this post about how I thought stenciled accent walls were cool, but we couldn't do it because we rent. WELL, this wall was done using contact paper, WHICH IS 100% TEMPORARY. Now THAT I can do. Now to convince the husband that this is as cool as I think it is.

No further explanation needed.
